How did it all begin, or was it always here?
We have photons, molecules, us, stars and galaxies in space, on an endless wheel of time.
Why does it need a beginning?
Could it not have always been here?
Matter is made from energy, and energy is made from matter, it's continuous.
The universe is the continuum.
It is eternal.
Both science and religions say that there was a beginning.
Yet we know that both science and religion have been used to mislead people before.
What happened before the beginning, or happens, after the end?
There still must be all the matter or energy of the universe, existing, somewhere before and after.

Could there have been a time when the universe was only energy, or only matter?
No, matter cannot exist without creating energy, and energy is just matter acting en mass at a smaller scale of magnitude.

For instance, the heat from the sun is caused by photons from the sun, physically impacting the skin. A wave on the ocean, is a mass of H2O molecules acting together in motion.

Energy is the verb, and matter is the nown.

And they are both, just words in the one verse.

Maybe we're the beginning of an end.

Not to be a stickler but this topic should not fall under the CHEMTRAIL section...

But... religious explanations aside...

Edwin Hubble discovered in the 1920's that the universe we can observe is expanding. This was the first bit of evidence found that eventually led to the Big Bang Theory to explain the beginning of our universe... and, because of the Big Bang Theory, eventually, a TV show called the Big Bang Theory was created.

Edwin Hubble therefor is responsible for the TV show Big Bang Theory... Yes or No?

Either way...

Generally speaking, what we think the universe is is a function of what we can extrapolate(if you will) from what we can observe.

The better we can observe then, the better our explanations of the universe model become.

I think it's just that simple... So as time goes on, I suspect better answers will come forth.

For example, if DSW website stays around forever, and, this thread stays around forever too... Reading it from beginning to end will be quite a ride...

(feel free to move this topic to a more suitable location,
i couldn't find quite the right category)

A supersaturated glass of salt water with a little more salt, leaves a little salt undissolved.
However, on close examination of the remaining salt in the solution, shows it to be both dissolving, and crystallizing, in equilibrium.

The universe is like this, water being the space, salt being the matter.
The dissolved salt invisible in the water is like the energy transforming into matter,
while a supernova would be like the solid salt redissolving back into the water.

So we have energy saturated space, forming matter which eventually grows in mass, back into energy.

Grows?
Yes!  Matter grows in space. Stars grow, the sun grows, planets grow, the moon grows, and even the Earth, grows.

How do we know this?
The age of the oceans' floors have been measured, and are all geologically, very recent. All less than about 200 million years old.  The continents are the old crust, thousands of millions (That's BILLIONS) of years old, they were all connected as a smaller, earlier Earth.

Let me reiterate the geological story we are sold,  The Earth was created by many meteor impacts in an early solar system, and has not changed in size much since, and the solid crust is sinking into the rock solid Earth, and all the massive heavy solid rock continents are drifting randomly about like boats, through the rock-solid ocean floors.
The continents were all once connected in a single land mass island (Pangaea) on one side of the globe, and were covered 2/3 by water, up to 800 foot deep.  The remaining ~70% of the globe was covered in deep ocean.

What we are simply seeing is the continents staying fixed in place to the crust, and the ocean floors widening and spreading them apart from growth at the mid ocean rifts.  The growth of the Earth is exponential, the bigger it gets, the faster it grows.  This is how matter comes to be in space.  A comet grows to be a moon; grows to be a planet; grows to be a gassy giant; orbits increase and one day it becomes a star, that continues on growing larger and larger, until, one day it goes nova and much of its matter is dissolved back into space as energy.

The Moon has grown too, the growth areas are the darker, lower, almost crater-less, mares.
If the moon had an ocean, they would be blue.
